Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid (as well as beta-carotene), which according to hundreds of professional scientific studies has a number of positive effects on the human body. This is why it is called one of the strongest antioxidants in the world, often even the strongest. It is contained in flamingo feathers, shrimp meat, lobsters and wild salmon, to which it gives a characteristic colour. Researchers believe that it is astaxanthin that gives salmon strength and endurance in tackling rivers and waterfalls. However, freshwater algae are by far the most concentrated source of astaxanthin.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are substances that neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are particles that are formed in the human body by internal and external negative influences (e.g. polluted environment or lifestyle transgressions) and damage healthy cells. Antioxidants can thus compensate for their harmful effects in the body. Apart from astaxanthin, antioxidants include, for example, vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, resveratrol and others.

Hundreds of scientific studies and expert articles have investigated the safety and efficacy of astaxanthin for humans and revealed the possible beneficial effects of astaxanthin on immunity, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, brain, eyes, skin, sport performance and fertility. At the same time, on the basis of these researches, its anti-inflammatory effects and potential effect as a prevention against certain diseases are highlighted.
